Arrangements must be made for effective release of trapped passengers from inside lift cars. We deliver support & assessment to enable all lift engineers (and non lift personnel) to achieve the Performing Engineering Operations EOR202N titled ‘Working Safely in an Engineering Environment’ (Lift Safety).
This EOR202N course is designed for you if you need to access any lift areas or you need to manually move a passenger lift yourself when power cuts, entrapments or other emergency situations have occurred. It is essential to be properly trained, assessed and deemed competent when working on lifts. Tough penalties can be imposed by the courts for non compliance when accidents have occurred.
Over 1,200+ building owners/security guards/reception staff/facility managers/lift engineers and others have all attended our courses previously.
TCD is the UK’s number one lift engineer recruitment, training and development company and are the leading EOR202N lift industry training provider. We have lift industry experience of delivering this course since 2006 and can guide you through the whole process.
The EOR202N is a working safely in an engineering environment accreditation, it means that you've met the national standard and are deemed competent to gain access to lift equipment on the day the certificate is issued.
Yes, anyone that accesses the lift shaft, lift pit or lift motoroom will need this certificate, this includes lift engineers, apprentices, managers, insurance inspectors or other 3rd party tradesmen for example asbestos surveyors or fire alarm engineers who need to access lift shafts to service their equipment.
There are different ways this can be delivered depending on your circumstances. Most of our candidates are assessed onsite followed by a period of online support to assess the required method statements that will be needed to meet the performance criteria and underpinning knowledge questions contained in the EOR202N unit. There will also be other paperwork required for you to supply, for example risk assessments, method statements and naturally occurring evidence. Naturally occurring evidence is usually your companies job reports that you produce for your customer.
No, this is the responsibility of the lift company, you can in some cases use a different lift engineer to provide the training, please contact us about this for more information.
You should aim for around 8 to 12 weeks before the EOR202N can be officially issued. Although the onsite assessment can be done in 1 day and you can prepare the paperwork in advance of our visit, it will still take time in order to collate all your paperwork and complete the admin and the cross referencing of your evidence to the EOR202N unit. Registration and certification is handled through the Lift & Escalator Industry Association.
The EOR202N also covers assessment on the safe release of trapped passengers from a lift car and this should only be performed with the power off and within the door unlocking zone. A suitable risk assessment should also be completed to cover, for example, the safe access and egress to the lift shaft, sufficient space on top of the lift car, falls from height, unguarded machinery, lockable lift isolator, lift barriers/guarding to keep members of the public away etc, etc...
Yes, there have been many lift companies and lift owners who have breached Health & Safety regulations or not complied with the Law and have been prosecuted. These are available to view from the HSE website here https://www.hse.gov.uk/index.htm
